Applicants are required to bring the following information and documents to ensure a successful and enjoyable RTCRS application experience:

  • Personal identification (driver's license or passport - see below)
  • Proof of firearms safety training (see requirements below)
  • Check or Money order for $117 (Payable to FL Div. of Licensing)
  • RESERVATION for your requested time slot (see 'reservations' link on menu at left)
DETERMINE YOUR ELIGIBILITY!

The FL CCW application is virtually the same as a Federal 4473.  It asks substantially similar questions.  If you have ever been treated for drug dependence, had a restraining order filed against you or have a criminal background, this is not the day for you.

To be eligible to apply for the Florida Nonresident Carry License, you must meet these below criteria.  For a full list of specifics, please see the Florida Division of Licensing Website if you have any questions about whether or not you qualify.

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Be a US citizen, or permanant legal resident alien and have the supporting documentation
  • Do not have a disqualifying condition
  • Desire a carry permit for lawful self-defense

PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION Any form of standard identification that is accepted by Notaries.  Typically, a photo ID such as a state-issued driver's license, or US Passport will suffice.  If you are a NJ resident, your Firearms ID card will also be accepted with a 2nd form of ID to establish you are the proper party.  Other forms of identification may be acceptable, but we strongly recommend either a Driver's license or Passport.

CERTIFICATION OF FIREARMS SAFETY TRAINING may be in any of the below forms.  Other forms are also acceptable, per the Florida statues, but these are the most common:

  • A notarized statement or document from a club, organization, school training facility or certified instructor showing that the individual has completed a course or class or is an experienced competitor. (The instructor must have observed you safely handling and discharging a firearm.)
  • A photocopy of your military honorable discharge document or a photocopy of your DD-214.
  • A photocopy of a certificate bearing the name of the organization, school or facility who sponsored the course or class and the instructors name and category of certification (NRA, State, etc.) The instructors name and certification must be clearly legible.
  • A photocopy of your NRA competitors classification card or similar document.
  • A photocopy of a firearms instructors certification card or certificate.
  • A photocopy of any NRA firearms training certificate.  The instructor's name, training classification, and NRA number must be legible.
  • A photocopy of a certificate or card showing completion of a hunter education or safety course approved by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or an similar agency of another state.
  • A photocopy of a license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued in Florida.
The license number and signature of the firearms instructor must appear on the training certificate.

For more information about the Florida Nonresident license, please visit their website so that you may review the entire statute.
